Accident at the “Krasnolimanskaya” coal mine

Mine-rescuers have a rest during the breaks in salvage operations underground near the main pit-shaft of “Krasnolimanskaya” coal mine, town Rodinskoye, Krasnoarmeyskiy region, Donetsk area, Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Overnight at 8 p.m., methane suddenly exploded and 31 miners died as a result. At the present moment the bodies are being raisen to the surface. By 5 a.m. July 20, 12 miners were discovered by mine-rescue crew and successfully brought out. Destiny of other 11 miners was still unknown by 6.45. The mine-rescue crew established a fact that these miners had very little chance to be saved. Salvage operations are going on.
