Soldiers of "Berkut" and internal forces break up people
The UNIAN Archive. The soldiers of "Berkut" and Internal Army break up people by means of gas and batons in the Kyiv center (Tuesday, July 18, 1995). The people gathered on the Sofievska Suquare, where in the temporary grave was buried the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarch) Vladimir Romanyuk. The believers demanded to bury the Patriarch in the Sofievsky Cathedral, while the Kyiv City Authorities insisted on the burial on the Kyiv-based Baykovoe cemetery. Up to the present the Patriarch lies in the temporary grave nearby the wall of the Sofievsky Cathedral.
