Ukrainian frontier guards

Ukrainian frontier guards take part in the training operation on defending Ukraine’s state boundary at Tuzla island, southern Ukraine, on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003. This day a group of Ukrainian parliament deputies visited Tuzla island to investigate the situation over Russia’s intention to build the isthmus between Ukrainian island Kosa Tuzla located in Kerchynsky channel and Tamansky peninsula (Russia). Deputy head of Ukraine’s state frontier service Mykhailo Koval assured the deputies that ”the frontier guards would accurately perform the tasks on defending Ukrainian state boundary”.Photo by Alexander Sinitsa / UNIAN
