Tuzla
Helicopter view on Ukraine's southern island Tuzla (500m wide, 7km long) is seen on this photo taken on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003. Sept. 29, 2003 Russia started the building of the isthmus between Ukrainian island Kosa Tuzla located in Kerchynsky channel (Ukraine's southern town of Kerch is beyond the bottom part of the photo) and Russian peninsula Tamansky (close to the top part of the photo). The building was initiated by local authorities of Krasnodarky region (Russia). Sept. 30 Ukrainian Foreign Affairs ministry sent an official note to Russian foreign policy department to explain the situation. Ukraine accents on the fact that the building is held at the Ukraine's frontier zone and has to be coordinated by both sides. Ukraine's parliament committee for foreign issues plans to apply to Security Council of UN, OBSE and NATO as the building of the dam is violation against Ukraine's territorial integrity.
