Alexander Timoshenko

The Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) head, Yulia Timoshenko’s (party “Batkivshchina” leader) husband Alexander Timoshenko is interviewed just after he has left the Zhitomirzky investigative jail after he had been discharged on late Thursday, August 9, 2001. Timoshenko was arrested together with another UESU leader Varely Falkovich in August of 2000. Timoshenko and Falkovich were accused of appropriation of state property in specially large denominations, exceeding their commissions, when conducting metal-roll in 90ies by structure Ukragrotechservis in the Far East states, as well as falsification of paper, according to which Russian gas was illegally transported in Great Britain. On August 9 Kievo-Svyatoshinsky Court (Kyivska Oblast) passed a decision to discharge them, notwithstanding the General Prosecutor’s sanction, extending their being under arrest till February 18, 2001.
