Andrey Klyuev and Nikolay Tomenko
Lawmaker from the Party of Regions Andriy Klyuev, left, shaking hands with deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko during the session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in Kyiv, on Tuesday, 2009. This day leader of the BYUT faction said that his political force is not about to take part in any constitutional coup. According to his words, the end of May is marked by regular hysteria on pestered topic – “deal, betrayal, mutiny, coup, usurpation of power and other stories”. According to persuasion of the BYUT’s leader, it has already become a political indication for Ukraine – “there is nothing yet – but everybody shivers”. “BYUT is authorized not only to say one more time, but to calm down one more time numerous crowds of diversiform political figures. Don’t be afraid and don’t shiver in vain – there will be nothing of the kind”, he said. The President of Ukraine conceded that on June 2, in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine there will be declared about creation of the coalition of the Party of Regions and the BYUT. The President of Ukraine said that the real goal of the creation of new coalition is introducing amendments into Constitution of Ukraine, in particularly canceling of direct election of the President. According to persuasion of the President, in the case of adoption of this decision, it can be called as constitutional coup. Photo by Vladimir Gontar/UNIAN
