The candidates for the President

The candidates for the President (from the left to the right): Vladimir Olyinyk, Nikolay Gaber, Petr Simonenko, Alexander Tkachenko, Yuryi Karmazin on the joint press conference in Kyiv, October 5, 1999. On the same day the seven candidates (mentioned ones and Alexander Bazilyuk and Alexander Moroz), which run for the President elections in the first round, signed the appeal to the Ukrainian citizens with the slogan to support the candidature of Simonenko, the leader of the Communist Party in the second round of elections. They informed that in the cased when Simonenko would be a President of Ukraine the most important positions in the state and coalition government of national trust would be occupied by the representatives of their parties and commands.
