Nikolay Mazurenko

Nikolay Mazurenko, captain of tanker “Navstar-1”, at the dock in the Court of Appeal, Monday, August 17, 2004. On August 17 the Court of Appeal must bring in a verdict on Nikolay Mazurenko, captain of tanker “Navstar-1”, and his chief officer Ivan Soshchenko blamed for oil products smuggling. Tanker “Navstar-1” under Panamanian flag with Ukrainian crew was arrested at Persian Gulf by Btitish naval forces on August 5, 2003. On October 13, 2003, Iraq court of justice brought a verdict according to which Mazurenko and Soshchenko were sentenced to imprisonment for 7 years and fined for 1.2 milliard U.S. dollars.
