Teenager extracts coal from the Calmius river floor
COMM Teenager extracts coal from the Calmius river floor in Pastuhovka village, Donetsk region, some 700km southeast from Ukrainian capital Kiev on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. The availability of bottom coal sediments discovered by local population after draining water to a storage pool is related with washing the coal out of the concentrating mill accumulator at one of Donetsk mines. Donetsk coal pits produced some 19,5 million tons of coal during the first half of 2003 that is 1,8 million tons less than previous year. The regional administration explains reduction of the coal production as a lack of financial resources. The government plans to allot some 372,9 million hryvnyas from the sate budget for equipping mines in Donetsk region in 2003.
