Aleksandr Tkachenko, Petr Simonenko and Aleksandr Moroz

From the left to the right - the leaders of the Ukrainian Parties of the left orientation - Aleksandr Tkachenko, one of the leaders of the Agricultural Party of Ukraine (APU), Petr Symonenko, the head of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU), Aleksandr Moroz, the leader of the Sotialist Party of Ukraine (SPU), on the 1st of May Holiday meeting of leftists (Kyiv, Saturday, May 1, 1999). The meeting participants passed a resolution to nominate the single leftist candidate for the President of Ukraine; it is the only way for leftists to win the President elections. On Saturday, May 29, 1999 the III Congress of the APU nominated Tkachenko for President elections. On Saturday, May 15, 1999 the CPU Congress nominated Petr Simonenko for the President. The same day the SPU Congress nominated Aqlexander Moroz for the President.
