German snowboarder Alex Schmalz (4th place) performs an indy-grab spin trick as he jumps in the air during the Winter-X Big Air snowboard extreme show held on National sports center Olimpiysky in Ukrainian capital Kiev on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003. Riders from Ukraine, Russia, Germany and Finland took part in the competition. Russian snowboarder Mitya Fisenko was placed first, Heppu Pentti from Finland was the 2nd, Vladislav Pescherov from Russia was the 3rd and Alex Schmaltz from Germany won his 4th place. The youngest participant was 13 years old.
