The court reduced Tuesday, August 7, 2002, the sentences of Dmitry Voronin and Yuriy Kalinin convicted in Bilozir's beating death to 10 and eight years in prison while a regional court had sentenced the two men to 15 and 12 years for premeditated murder and the Supreme Court sent it back to court after appeal. Some 200 protesters gathered Tuesday around the courthouse and demanded a life sentence for the two convicted men, blocking the building's exit.
