Ukraine's Nikolayev alumina plant
COMM FILE -- General view of Ukraine's Nikolayev alumina plant, the largest manufacturer of raw material for aluminium production in the CIS countries. The plant's former head of board Vilaty Meshin was detained Wednesday, July 10, 2002, being accused in economic crimes that he committed in 1996-99. Earlier, Ukraine's security council charged Meshin with having illegal currency accounts abroad, and investigated a case on aluminium smuggling in 1994.
