Agriculture. Winter wheat crops
The agronomist with 40 years of seniority Natalya Alekseyevna Rybalko looks at crops of winter wheat in Putivel (Sumy region) on Thursday, December, 14, 2006. Extremely warm November and the beginning of winter favoured a rapid growth of winter wheat. Agronomists are alarmed by natural anomaly the harvest of winter crops of future year is under the threat. Rybalko foreseas several versions of future harvest. First the ideal one gradual decrease of temperature below zero followed with snow. In this case the hibernation of crops will be be without complications. The next variant according to forecasts is the most probable after long-drawn warmth the earth will be covered with wet snow. In this case there will be an asphyxiation of winter crops and they will die. The third variant: suddent frost will destroy oversaturated with water winter crops. However the agronomist can remember lots of examples when there were good harvests in hopeless weather conditions. Photo by Vladimir Liakh / UNIAN
