Crimean Metropolitan Lazar
Crimean Metropolitan Lazar, center holding the Cross, and priests of Ukrainian Orthodox church take part in a religious procession in Ukraine's southern city of Simpheropol, 852 km (528 miles) south of capital Kiev Saturday, June 8, 2002. Participants of the procession carry banners and a case with a part of the Cross that Jesus Christ had been crucified on. A relic was brought to Ukraine from the Greek monastery for worship a few days before commemoration of St.Luka, Crimea's outstanding religious leader who died in 1861 and was canonized in 2000.
