People’s deputies observe the artistic picture about the history of the state’s foundation and formation of the Ukrainian parliamentarism, presented in the framework of the ceremonies, dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, in the corridors of Ukrainian Parliament in Kyiv, on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. In the composition’s center – the Ukrainian Soviet republic People’s Deportees of last calling proclaim the declaration about the independence of Ukraine from the tribune covered by Yellow-blue flag of Ukraine. Foreground – symbols of Ukrainian nation, right- historic persons of the Kyiv’s Rus times; center – first Ukrainian President Mikhail Grushevsky and poet Lesya Ukrainka. A fellow by their side - generalized image of students, who died defending first independent Ukraine in the village of Kryty outskirts, not far from Kyiv. Near him Kobzar (folk singer) – symbol of Ukrainian land. Left – the spiritual symbols of the nation – Shevchenko, Gogol, Franko, Skovoroda. The blessed virgin sanctifies them. Near – first kings-Christians: saint Vladimir, Olga, Kyiv’s patrons - Saint Mikhail and Yuryi Zmeeborets, Nestor Letopisets, other saints. All in all 100 figures are pictured there including some 70 parliamentarians. Ukrainian Artists Union member, Kyiv’s artist Alexey Kulakov is the author of this picture.
