A road near a dam across the Dnieper, in Cherkassy, on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. In Cherkassy a dam across the Dnieper River was damaged as a result of heavy rains. Restoration works of dam last. On the night of 28 to 29 of June there were the showers in Cherkassy that caused flooding of large areas of the city. According to the meteorologist, 38.4 mm of rain fell during the night in Cherkassy. It twice as much as the monthly rate. Emergency units pump out water from basements of houses and the drainage collector using the technique. Also, because of the threat of flooding of the equipment, a power substation RP-28, which provides electricity to the South-West district of the city, has been cut off.
