Nikolay Melnichenko

The former Major of the State Security Service of Ukraine Nikolay Melnichenko, during processing of a complaint of the former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma for closing the criminal cases against the former Major of the State Security Service of Ukraine Nikolay Melnichenko by the Prosecutor General’s Office in the hall of Pechersk district court, on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. This day Pechersk district court in Kiev began processing of a complaint of the former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma for closing the criminal cases against the former Major of the State Security Service of Ukraine Nikolay Melnichenko by the Prosecutor General’s Office in the absence of a complainant. Interests of Kuchma at the hearing are represented by the lawyers. In 2001 and 2004, criminal cases against Melnichenko were initiated on suspicion of abuse of power, revealing state secrets, as well as of the fact of falsification of evidence.
