Prototype of biometrics passport

The prototype of biometric passport, which was shown at a press-conference on the topic "Ukraine is ready for mass production of electronic passports and ID-cards", in Kiev, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. At a press conference General Director of JSC "KP VTI" said that "EDAPS" consortium is ready to start series production of biometric passports and ID-cards. According to him, Ukraine is completely prepared to meet the requirements of the EU to introduce e-passports without the involvement of expensive foreign technologies and companies. In the electronic documents of "EDAPS" consortium a multilayer polycarbonate, an electronic chip, a unique demetallized hologram as well as traditional methods of document protection were used.
