Lunar eclipse
A sculpture of protector of Kiev archangel Mikhail on the back of total lunar eclipse, in Kiev, on the night of Thursday, June 16, 2011. Yesterday night Ukrainians had an opportunity to observe a total lunar eclipse. It was a relatively rare central eclipse, visible over Europe and South America after sunset, over Africa and most of Asia, and Australia before sunrise. In Ukraine, the eclipse started at 10.22 p.m., reaching the greatest eclipse point at 11.15 p.m. This was not the last lunar eclipse in 2011, the second expected on December 10. The next central total lunar eclipse will be on July 27, 2018. Photo by Andrey Skakodub / UNIAN
