Patrice Le Roch and his father, Bernard, were detained on March 21, 2011, after trying to cross the Hungarian border with the twin girls hidden under a mattress in their van. Birth certificates of girls were given in the office of civil registration in Kiev. However, there were neither notes in the passports nor travel documents for children. Patrice Le Roch and his wife Orelia used the service of surrogate mother. But the French government refused to issue the child passports because it does not recognize surrogacy.
