FILE OBIT Actor, filmmaker and writer Mikhail Kozakov in Kiev, on Thursday, June 12, 2008. People's Artist of Russia Mikhail Kozakov died on April 22, 2011, on the 76th year of his life after a long illness in Israel. Kozakov was a filmmaker of the films: “Pokrovsky Gates”, “Nameless Star”, “A visit of the lady”, “Masquerade”, “Faust”. He began to film in 1956, his debut was the film of Mikhail Romm “A murder on Dante street”. Then there were the films “Amphibia man”, “Shot”, “Hello, I’m your aunt!”. He worked in different theatres: Mayakovskiy theatre, “Sovremennik”, Mkhat, “Na Maloy Bronnoy”. Kozakov organized his own theatre “Russian Private Theatrical Concern of Mikhail Kozakov”. Laureate of State Prize of USSR for stage (1967), State Prize of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (1983) for the role of Felix Dzerzhinskiy in the film “December 20”. In 1980 he was awarded a title of a People’s Artist of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. In 2010 Kozakov was awarded the Order of Honor. Photo by Viktor Popov / UNIAN
