He said he was afraid of becoming the Major Archbishop just like "an ant is afraid of climbing the mountain." Svyatoslav Shevchuk stated he did not intend either to build large palaces or buy a new car. While being a bishop of Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was called "strolling bishop" because he had so little personal stuff. "I wanted to fit as much stuff as possible into my little suitcase. So, I bought a small laptop," told Shevchuk. The UGCC leader also mentioned he first heard the name of Jesus from his grandmother and decided to become a priest when he first saw one.
