Viktor Chernomyrdin and Leonid Kuchma

UNIAN Archive. Ex-Prime-Minister of Russia Victor Chernomyrdin (left) and Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma. On Thursday, May 10, 2001 by the Russian President’s Decree Chernomyrdin was appointed for the Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Ukraine. Besides, Russian ex-premier will fulfill the duties of special representative of the Russian President on development of trade and economical links between Ukraine and Russia. Chernomyrdin after the meeting with the President declared that he is proud of such an appointment. Earlier he repeatedly marked that his wife is Ukrainian.
