The Mayor of the town of Cherkassy Vladimir Oliynyk (L) and the leader of "Bat'kivschyna" ("Motherland") party Yulia Tymoshenko are giving an interview after handing over to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) the minutes of Cherkassians' meeting on the formation of the initiative group for the All-Ukrainian Referendum "On people's will in the question about announcement of dismissal by Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma", on Tuesday May 8, 2001, CEC building, Kiev. V.Oliynyk said that the initiative group numbering 88 persons is formed in Cherkassy for conducting the Referendum on the President's retirement. There was 237 persons at the meeting on formation of initiative group. The meeting handed two decisions down: on the cessation of the Ukrainian President's authorities by means of his resignation statement and on the modification of the authority structure, nominally on the disentitling for the President to form the Cabinet of Ministers - this function, according the meeting participants, must be entrusted with the Parliament.
