The Ukraine President Leonid Kuchma toasts on 56th Victory anniversary at the meeting with the veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Mariinsky Palace in Kiev on Tuesday, May 8, 2001. A President handed to veterans - men of acted army - state rewards "for the fortitude and selflessness displayed in the fight against fascism". The President stressed that in these days the suffering caused to Ukraine and to people by the war are recalling with a special poignancy. The army in the field had 3,5 m. our countrymen lost. In all the list of lost amounts to 5 m. including civil population and prisoners of war.
