At the beginning of the meeting the UN Secretary-General thanked the Ukrainian President for supporting various UN missions. He also praised the high level of cooperation of the Ukrainian side with the UN Mission in Kyiv. "We thank you for your strong support of the UN,” Mr. Ban Ki-moon said. The UN Secretary-General confirmed his participation in the 25th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster International Conference and said he will visit Kyiv in April 2011. The President of Ukraine thanked the UN Secretary General for his support of the initiative of the International Conference. "Your participation in this event is important for Ukraine. We are preparing a number of important decisions on strengthening nuclear security and nonproliferation of nuclear materials," Viktor Yanukovich said. He further noted the importance of active cooperation between Ukraine and the United Nations. "We will work together so that the UN role in addressing the most pressing challenges facing global community was growing year after year," he said. The sides have also discussed possible ways of the Transnistria conflict regulation in the context of parliamentary elections in Moldova.
