The meeting of Ukrainian-Russian Interparliamentary Commission

Sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of Liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation in Kiev, on Monday, November 29, 2010. In the beginning of the meeting, Vladimir Litvin stated,"Active and efficient work of the Commission is being renewed." He attaches great importance to the present meeting, since "it overcomes a negative and alarming tendency that might have been observed during a three-year delay in the work of the Commission." According to Vladimir Litvin, "it was a formal period in the relations between Russia and Ukraine that should never be repeated, as there is no sense and use in it." He also stressed that renewal of the Commission proved that both Parliaments needed internationalization of life, in particular, in the economic sphere. "We need fruitful cooperation, since it would greatly depend on the legislative bodies: political agreements should be a basis for the future laws", the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stated.
