Ezhi Onukh
UNIAN Archive. Director of the Kyiv's Modern Arts Center, founded by George Soros, Ezhi Onukh wipes the cream from his face, after somebody hurled a cake at him during the action "Insipid Art" in the Center's Exhibition Hall on December 20, 2000. The NTO artists group representatives carried out the action as a token of protest against the biased selection of the participants from Ukrainian party in the artistic Venice Biennial 2001. Participation of Ukraine in this program is a part of Culture Ministry's program. In August 2001Ukrainian Minister of Culture appointed Evgenyi Karas for the commissioner of Ukrainian presentation. Onuh was appointed for curator in September 2000, artist - Ukrainian representatives on Biennial - Igor Podolchak and Igor Dyurich - in January 2001. The same month a Hr800,000 budget for participation of Ukraine in Biennial was confirmed. On March 19, 2001 after the urgent recommendations of Union of Artists and Ukrainian Academy of Arts, in accordance with order of vice -prime-minister Nikolay Zhulinskyi, Alexander Fedoruk State Service Office on control over transference of culture values abroad was appointed for presentation commissioner. It is possible that Ukrainian delegation will be completely changed and Raevskyi, Savadov and Sidorenko will present Ukrainian artists in Venice.
