Children walk along the river Tisa

Children walk along the river Tisa in village of Kryva (Khustovskyi region, Zararpatska oblast) on Friday, March 9, 2001. Critical hydrological situation was caused by the flood and sudden ascent of water level in rivers in Zakarpathia. Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who visited suffered region informed that he will sign a decree, according to which, the suffered Zakarpathian regions will be considered the zone of ecological disaster. The President also informed that Ukraine will appeal to the European Union for assistance in fulfillment of flood-control program. Photo by UNIAN
