The candidates for the President: Vasily Onopenko, left, the chairman of the Ukrainian Social-Democratic Party (USDP) and Vitaly Kononov, the leader of the Party of Greens (PG) are standing with their hands closed and raised, during the picketing of the CEC building in Kyiv (Thursday, July 29, 1999). The same day the 600 members of the USDP from the 25 regions of Ukraine together with the representatives of the PG picketed the CEC building as a token of protest against the delay of the Onopenko registration, as the candidate for the President. According to the USDP declaration, out of the 1,442,000 signatures, supporting Onopenko, the CEC checked up less than a half, and 58% out of the amount of checked ones is declared invalid.
