Harvest

The village Korobka (Khersonskaya oblast) dwellers have dinner on the field during the grain-crops harvest (Friday, July 23, 1999). According to the prediction balance of the Government, the crops harvest will make up 27.5 millions tons of crops this year. For the present, the early grain corps have been splayed on the area of 5.8 millions hectares. It makes up 57% of the essential areas, and for 1.2 million hectares more than in the corresponting period of the last year. 11.2 million tons of the early cereal crop and leguminous plants were threshed, for 2 million tons more than during the corresponding period of 1998. The harvest makes up 22 quintal from per hectare, 1,9-fold less, than in 1998. The decrease of crop capacity from per hectare is coursed by the frosts and droughts, continued till the present time.
