Georgyi Gongadze

The UNIAN Archive. The director of the Internet-project "Ukrainskaya Pravda" (Ukrainian truth), famous Ukrainian journalist Georgyi Gongadze takes part in the action of independent journalists "Wave of Freedom", requiring to introduce changes in the Ukrainian Legislation, which will exclude the possibility of pressure on the Mass Media, near the UNIAN agency in Kyiv, on May 4, 2000. On Saturday, September 16, 2000 Gongadze left his house in the Kyiv center and disappeared. There is no information about him till now. Gongadze's colleagues in Ukrainskaya Pravda remind of the recent "attempts to intimidate Georgyi by some people, who introduced themselves as militia collaborators", after what he had to appeal with the open letter to the General Prosecutor's Office.
