Alexander Tkachenko, one of the leaders of the Peasant Party of Ukraine, the VR spokesman stands near the Central Electoral Commission building, holding the certificate of the candidate for the President, accepts the congratulations of miners from Gorlovka, who had temporary seized the VR picketing (Thursday, July 15, 1999). That day Tkachenko was registered by the CEC as the candidate for President. Of the ampont of 14 candidates he gathered 'the most of all' signatures, supporting him - 2,600,000, while CEC declared valid also the "most of all' signatures - 1,7000,000 of the amount.
