Kyiv-based Shipbuilding Dock
The workers of the Kyiv-based Shipbuilding Dock (KSD)are grounding the sheets for sheeting of the sea dry-cargo motor ship "Kyiv"(Kyiv, Wednesday, July 14, 1999). It is planned that the motor ship "Kyiv", being built upon the order of Russian Joint Stock Company "Gazprom", will be launched in September of the current year. According to Anatoly Karpenko, the assistant director of the factory, the schedule of construction foresaw the launching in May. The series of universal high-automated, 103 meters-long and of 4,500tons displacement motor ships is built on account of payments of Ukraine for the consumed, delivered by Russian natural gas. During the last three years "Gazprom" received three "river-sea" class dry-cargo motor ship (project "Slavutich"), built by KSD. According to the inter-Governmental agreement, the Oil Joint Stock Company "Neftegaz Ukrainy" will fulfill the construction financing on account of the profit, received from the sale of Russian gas and its transporting through the Ukrainian boarder. The financing size of ships construction in 1999 makes up about $7 millions, systematic non-fulfillment of the financing schedule by the OJSC "Neftegaz Ukrainy" leads to the wracking of ships delivery terms.
