Homeless family
Homeless family: pregnant Marina, Alexey and Valeryi, who live in the ecologically dangerous ground of solid domestic wastes in Kievo-Svyatoshinskyi region, not far from villages Kryukovshchina, Vita-Pochtovaya and Tarasovka, Kyiv outskirts, dine on the dump on Tuesday, August 1, 2000. The homeless people earn money for living by delivering empty bottles, which they find on the dumps, in the glass packing receiving centers. On that day the Party of Greens of Ukraine carried out the action on the dump closure. The dump illegally appeared 30 years ago and has been functioning all this time without wastes conservation technologies. Some 200 homeless people, including children live on the dump. Notwithstanding the decision of the Chernobyl Interregional Ecological Prosecutor's Office on the dump closure, which was passed on July 14, 2000, no real measures have been carried out. The participants of the action required from the Regional State Administration to undertake measures: re-cultivate the ground in Kryukovshchina and found the new ground, which will correspond the ecological legislation.
