Participants of the Festival "Kazantip"
The UNIAN Archive Participants of the Alternative Youth Festival "Kazantip" walk by the destroyed top of the abandoned Crimean APS reactor (APS is ready for 90% and, according to the plan, was to be the most high-powered in the former USSR) in Shchelkino, cape Kazantip, August 17, 11, 1998. The festival, which within the last six years became a tradition in the Crimea, may fail. The Kazantip authorities came out against the further Festival conducting in Shchelkino. It was planned, that the Festival will move to the Sudak outskirts. However the Sudak Mayors' Office headed by Mayor Anatolyi Klavkin banned the Festival, scared of the existing record of the "Kazantip" in the region. The Crimean Parliament Speaker Leonid Grach came out in favor of the festival. On Monday, July 17, 2000 the speaker categorically stated that the festival Kazantip will take place in the Crimea. The festival conducting is planned from August 10 to 27.
