Freight ship „Marathon”

„Marathon” freighter, captured in captivity by Somali pirates on May 7, 2009. Somali pirates captured „Marathon” freighter, flying the flag of Netherlands Antilles, on May 7, 2009; the owners of „Western Marine Transport NV” company, operator-company is „Cargadoor Amons & Co” ( Zaandam city, the Netherlands). The crew of the freighter consists of 8 people – all of them are citizens of Ukraine. According to the press office of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, operator –company of the ship and Embassy of the Netherlands to Ukraine confirmed the fact of capture of the ship and stay of citizens of Ukraine on the board of the ship. In the case of regular capture in the captivity of the Ukrainian sailors, it is instructed to Embassies of Ukraine to the Netherlands and to Kenya to clarify circumstances of the mentioned incident, to contact with a ship owner and operator – company and promote the fast releasing of our compatriots.
