During the meeting Vladimir Putin said that he believes that it is dangerous to interrupt deep cooperation between Russia and Ukraine. “If we do not unite efforts it will be very difficult for us at the foreign market”, said V. Putin, opening the meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko on Wednesday. “We have a deep cooperation and if we do not preserve it the situation for our participants of economic activity in conditions of competition, which sharpens, will complicate”, said the Russian Prime Minister. The Prime Minister of the RF noted that the sides have to discuss not only energy issue today. Form her side, the Prime Minister of Ukraine paid attention to regularity of the sessions of the committee. “It is important that this work is very systematic. We carried out our economic committee in April last year and now, the year has passed and we can sum up the results”, she said. Yulia Tymoshenko also thanked Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that Russia agrees from January 2009 for reduction of planned gas supplies to Ukraine. “I also want to express gratitude that we find mutual understanding concerning those points of contract, where it is said that we should take ordered gas, but today we take as much gas as the crisis allows and we pay for it in full volume. It is important that there are such arrangements”, said Yulia Tymoshenko. According to the contract signed on January 19, 2009 between Gazprom OJSC and Neftegaz NJSC, in 2009 Ukraine will receive 40 billion cubic metres of gas. Photo by Aleksandr Prokopenko/POOL/UNIAN
