Bishop Vasiliy

Bishop of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, Vasilii, consecrates a chapel of venerable Illia Muromets on Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the border between Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, Rozovskyi district, Ukraine where there was a battle on the Kalka. May 31 marks 770th anniversary of the battle lost to the Tatars-Mongols after which followed their invasion radically changing the course of history of Kyivan Rus and states that existed after it. On May 27 there was a funeral meeting and consecration of the chapel of venerable Illia Muromets, built on the initiative of the Union of Cossacks of the south-east of Ukraine and Donetsk Union of Cossacks of Donbas, "Volnost". Two years ago the place saw the erection of a funeral cross in honor of the perished in the battle.
