Bishop Vasiliy
Bishop of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, Vasilii, consecrates a chapel of venerable Illia Muromets on Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the border between Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, Rozovskyi district, Ukraine where there was a battle on the Kalka. May 31 marks 770th anniversary of the battle lost to the Tatars-Mongols after which followed their invasion radically changing the course of history of Kyivan Rus and states that existed after it. On May 27 there was a funeral meeting and consecration of the chapel of venerable Illia Muromets, built on the initiative of the Union of Cossacks of the south-east of Ukraine and Donetsk Union of Cossacks of Donbas, "Volnost". Two years ago the place saw the erection of a funeral cross in honor of the perished in the battle. The meeting was attended by the representatives of regional state administrations of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Cossacks of Zaporizhzhia "Voisko Nizovoye" (Cossack Army).
