The Verkhovna Rada did not support in the first reading the draft law “On Introducing Amendments into Some Laws of Ukraine (On Dividing Authorities of Kyiv Mayor and Kyiv City State Administration Chairman)”. According to an UNIAN correspondent, 202 out of 436 MPs registered in the session hall voted for this draft law. The factions of the Party of Regions and Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko almost did not take part in the voting. The draft law also stipulated that the Kyiv City State Administration chairman is appointed by the President of Ukraine on submission of government, while the Kyiv Mayor is elected.
