Central Kiev synagogue Brodsky
The general view of the just opened Central Kyiv's Brodskyi synagogue, where the first, within the last 70 years, service is being conducted, on Wednesday, March 22, 2000. The largest for the present in Ukraine synagogue was built 100 years ago on the Brodslyui's bankers and sugar manufacturers means by architect Lev Ginzburg's project. Lev Ginzburg took part in the building of Kyiv-based National Opera, Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts and Polytechnic Institute houses. The synagogue was closed in 1926. The reconstruction works of the Briodskyi synagogue, initiated by the All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress, started in 1997. On the opening day the synagogue endowed the each family, who lost their bread-winners in the course of the metal exposure on the Barakov mine in Krasnodon on March 11, 2000 by Hr800.
