Zia Bazshaev

The UNIAN Archive Zia Bazshaev, the President of the Concern "Group Alliance", who died in the course of crash of the Russian medium range Soviet-era passenger jet YAK-40 while taking off to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, in Moscow, March 9, 2000. Mr. Bazhaev , a Chechen by birth, was the President of the Oil Company, in Chrchnya in 1995, in 1997- the President of the Financial-industrial Group "Sidanko", in 1998 - he headed the "Alliance" group". Bazhaev was leaving for Kyiv with the working-visit, after which he together with Ukrainian officials was to visit Kazakhstan. Recently Bazaev actively worked on the fulfillment of the project of regular work of the third by size in Ukraine Kherson-based Refinery Plant. The last project would have allowed Ukraine to fell itself more self-confident on the negotiations with Russia, as well as contradicted with the Russian Oil Companies' interests.
