Yuriy Kostenko and Vasiliy Onopenko

Yury Kostenko, the Head of the National Rukh of Ukraine, the candidate for President of Ukraine is sitting nearby Vitaly Onopenko, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine, the candidate for President during the press-conference in the UNIAN, Kyiv (Tuesday, August 17, 1999). Yury Kostenko declared about the establishing of the Association of the National Democratic forces. Each candidate for President, who had signed the declaration, "for the sake of the victory on the elections of the representative of the National Democratic, State forces is responsible to cancel his candidature in favour of the single candidate, appointed by the Association". According to Kostenko, the preliminary negotiations were conducted with Vitaly Kononov and Vladimir Oleynik. At the same time the authors of the document "have not yet negotiate with Gennady Udovenko". Kostenko noted that earlier formed coalition of candidates could not join the Association. In particular, the matter concerns those candidates, who had signed the Agreement about Honest Elections - Alexander Moroz, Alexander Tkachenko, Evgehy Marchuk, as well as " the mostly formed Presidential Coalition.
