As of April 1, 2011, Ukraine sowed spring agricultural crops throughout the areas of 872.1 thsd ha, a decrease of 16.8% compared to the indices of the same date of 2010, declared the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine on April 8. According to the data, agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants (without maize) throughout 717 thsd ha, down 14.1% compared to the same date of the previous year, including 530.4 thsd ha of barley sowings (down 16.1%). According to the Committee data, agricultural enterprises sowed sunflower throughout 5.6 thsd ha (up 2.8 times).
