In the course of the Championship Simonenko won three golden medals - in the 1000km long distance, as well as in the team band and individual race-pursuit. The 231 sportsmen from the 26 teams took part in the Competitions. Three World champions - Alexander Simonenko, Sergey Chernyavskyi and Ruslan Podgornyi, as well as Irina Yanovich, the Ukrainian Champion-woman (the only woman-cycle-racer, who was rewarded by the license for the Olympic Games in Sydney) were among the participants.
