Funeral of Vladimir Yashenko
Friends and relatives attend a funeral of Vladimir Yashenko, the European Champion and the World High Jump record-holder (1978) on the Zoporizhia-based funeral on Thursday, December 2, 1999. On Tuesday, November 30, 1999 Vladimir Yashenko, 41, died in Zaporozhia. His death was caused by the liver cirrhosis and alcoholic intoxication. The sport career of the former world champion finished in 1980 - then owing to the serious trauma he did not take part in the Moscow Olympic Games.
